Government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or their elected agents under a free electoral system. - www.dictionary.com
This definition is basically saying that we have the power. That as the people of this country we control the government and we should have to most say in what we do as a country. This is what our founding fathers intended of this government because they didn't want it to turn into a monarchy (a government where one person or family rules the entire country).
Based on the definition above I do think our democracy is dead, because I don't think that we the people have the most power in our country anymore. I don't really believe that we have a lot of say in what our government does. Our government is starting to become fairly corrupt. It is dying and I think the next president we have is going to kill it!

I agree with you.
BUT
The gov has been corrupt for longer than that...
Look back to when president Woodrow Wilson signed that dreaded "bank act"
and gave power to the banking cartels. They control our debts with fluctuating interest rates.
And then when you get to the business of War.
WW1
WW2
Vietnam
All profitable for bankers and interest men; but abhorred for the people and families involved.
And now we're coming to our eighth year in Iraq...
WWJD?
